Arrival, rugby time and departure

All teams, except local clubs, should arrive in Lisbon no later than Friday, April 3 2020.

The organisation will coordinate and make all travel arrangements for foreign teams arriving by air at the Lisbon International Airport. Teams arriving by bus or train should make their way to the accommodation site on Friday and will be assisted on arrival by its own Team Liaison Officer for the whole period of stay. On match days (April 4, 5) shuttle buses will be available to take teams to and from the tournament venue.

There will be an opening event for all team officials, referees, sponsors and organisation in a local hotel.

First round & preliminary matches start Saturday morning. All finals will be played Sunday.

In the first day of the competition, Saturday, every team will play 3 to 4 matches. The play-off groups and finals will be played on Sunday. The tournament organisation reserves the right (if needed) to make adjustments to the tournament format to guarantee that every team plays the same number of rugby matches.

Monday, April 6, all visiting teams will return to their point of origin, departing from Lisbon International Airport.

Food & Beverage

The Portugal Rugby Youth Festival organization will provide all participants with food and drinks at the accommodation sites. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style and dinner is always a warm meal. Lunch is not included in the festival package but it can be purchased at the playing venue. The festival restaurant menu costs 10€ per person and it includes 1 soup, 1 main course, dessert and 1 drink.

Festival & Entertainment

We encourage the friendly get together between young people of different nationalities and cultures. On Sunday, after the finals, there will be a trophies and awards ceremony and live music for everyone.
One of our goals with Portugal Rugby Youth Festival is for coaches to have time and opportunity for a good rugby chat across borders. Coaches Corner was a huge success in previous editions and in 2020 we will make sure this unique experience is repeated!

Local Clubs

We welcome all local rugby clubs in the Lisbon area to enter and to be part of this fantastic rugby party. This will be a great chance for all local rugby clubs to benefit from playing against international opponents and also to make new friends!
